RIP AliCat ~ 3/15/19

We found you about ten years ago when you were pencil-thin and paranoid. You finally left the garage and your cat house after three months and continued to be a sweet and weird cat who ventured forth only when the weather was nice. You loved the sun but you loved your heated cat house the most.
Smokey eventually accepted you, although not as an equal, and you tolerated your secondary position well.
You didn't like being handled and going to the vet was a paralyzing experience.
Last night you barely reacted when I brought you your treat as you lay in your little house and we feared the worst. This morning you were gone. We will miss your sweet, strange, and wonderful little self.❤

Thoughts from Today - 4/15/13

Yesterday morning it snowed briefly. By this time in Michigan, snow makes us angry.
Before the snow, rain has consistently poured down for the last 4-5 days and the rivers are over-flowing their banks. Holiday Farm is now Holiday Lake, thanks to the Grand River. Everyone who does not live in a 100-year flood plain is thankful today.
In spite of it all, spring continues to arrive and our favorite cat is ever-present.
So sad for Boston today and the state of our world, but we will abide...

Cat-Deer Encounter

What are you looking at, Smokey, and why are you not chasing it in your usual style?
Ah, just a little too big,
and crocus-eating bold.
Cats and Deer apparently can peacefully co-exist.
Just a few last looks,
and the peaceful encounter was over.

Smokey deserves her own blog posting - 10/9/12

You need to watch your beverage when sitting outside with Smokey.
Looking at the blowing leaves...
Back in June, going for my water -
And if you're a bird looking for a bath, please beware:
She is lovely company,
here sleeping in the arms of St. Francis,
here patrolling the perimeter.
And sphinx-like, she is always ready for her close-up.

We spent 20 minutes trying to help the hummingbird find her way out of the garage and finally succeeded by blowing her out with the leaf blower.

A few minutes later I saw the cat with the hummingbird in her mouth.

Hmmmmmm........ You're welcome, kitty?
