How beautifully leaves grow old. How full of light and color are their last days (John Burroughs) ~ 11/2/14

October was beautiful this year and still today, dried leaves were raining on the roof. But the star of the month was the color. This year it seemed more intense or maybe it just lasted a little longer. Earlier walks were documented here on 10-8 and here on 10-9.

On the windy days, the leaves swirled around me and themselves, performing their autumn dance.
Here is the rest of October, starting with 10-12:
10-19
10-21
10-23

10-25
10-26
10-28

The Marker

It marks its time on earth by resolutely inching toward the sky,
recording memories, sending offspring into the world,
never pausing to question its existence.
Leaves are let go when the time is right.
Still quietly confident, its silhouette now unadorned,
the tree patiently awaits the new birth of its foliage
and leaning over the asphalt lane, watches us go by.
