Reflections on March 2013

Still snow & Smokey likes the birdbath perch
Rosa Parks Circle ice rink is melting
Potholes are growing...
Snowdrops are blooming
Ali is unimpressed but crocus are emerging
Cats watching the hail, crocus and other plants waiting to bloom...

A yard walk with the cats, looking for spring:

A March 30 addendum for the crocus:
 Looking forward to April!

Michigan Winter - 2013

This week brought us rain, sleet, ice, snow, rain, snow, and snow.
The UPS man and our cat left the only tracks.

Friday into Saturday brought it home -

This afternoon the sun came out,
 and the removal began.
Ah, welcome to Michigan winter - we missed you last year...

Halloween Hooligans and the U.S. Post Office

November 1 found us and our neighbors with our mailboxes pounded down to the ground by a well-thrown pumpkin. So no mail delivery. I'm sure there are rules regarding mail delivery to downed mail boxes :)
The battered boxes were up by the next day with the beginnings of a new structure.
A new roof was obviously developing.
Alrighty, new boxes now placed in numerical order, and under a roof.
The roof apparently needed shingles, and the post office wanted the boxes placed in post-office-preferred sequence. So here we have the Taj Mahal of mail boxes, courtesy of the pumpkin-throwing hooligans and our luck in having an architect and structural engineer as neighbors :)

Fall Is Fleeing

The leaves are falling fast but the colors are still gorgeous.
Late bloomer, and winter berries
And the leaves...
I can't take a walk without cat accompaniment, so here they are.
Ali moving into child's pose for her afternoon yoga,
and Smokey, always ready for her closeup.
Enjoy and appreciate the colors and temperatures while you can -
because nothing gold can stay.
