Sandy Rocco needs a kidney

This is the daughter of my first cousin, now deceased, from my mother's side of the family (Helmus). And that side of the family has been decimated by this genetic disease that goes back to my grandfather (and I'm sure undiagnosed before that) and his siblings, 3 of his 5 children had it, and it continues down through the generations with no abatement or cure. If your parent has the disease you have at least a 50/50 chance of inheriting it. Without a kidney transplant, a person with polycystic kidney disease spends 3 or 4 days a week hooked to a dialysis machine because the kidneys can no longer can do what they are supposed to do. This is the now the youngest of our cousins, Sandy Rocco, who asks for help via social media. ‪#‎pkd‬ ‪#‎kidneytransplant‬ ‪#‎helmus‬

"I am a wife and mom and I have PKD. I am searching for a living kidney donor. Please contact IU Health @317-944-4370 for info on donating for Sandy Rocco.'
